Here's what you'll need to make this low carb keto sausage and peppers recipe:

  • Kielbasa sausage - you can also use smoked sausage, andouille, or other cajun sausage. Make sure it is keto friendly they sometimes sneak carbs and sugar in the sausages.

  • Add spicy heat with a favorite Cajun inspired hot sauce.

How To Serve Cajun Style Sausage Peppers and Onions

  • Adjust seasoning to taste then serve and topped with sour cream and grated cheddar cheese.
  • Serve over a side of steamed rice cauliflower (or regular rice if you're not following low carb or keto).
  • Make a simple fresh side salad with a favorite dressing. Try this avocado dressing, it would go really well with cajun sausage and peppers!
  • Don't limit yourself to sour cream and cheese as a topping - try avocado slices and fresh diced tomato.

Keto Sausage and Peppers Recipe Tips

  • Buy pre-cooked sausage from the store so you only have to brown it. Some sausage comes raw and will need to cook according to the package instructions.
  • Double check that the sausage is keto friendly - sometimes they slip carbs and sugar in.

Storing Sausage Peppers and Onions

Store leftover cooked sausage peppers and onions in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. This recipe does not freeze well as the peppers and onions break down and become soggy and watery.

This was very good. I used Cajun sausage, and a Cajun seasoning along with all of the peppers and onions.
It is a “make again” recipe, but I will cut the peppers and onions into smaller pieces.

Awesome dish! I used sausage stuffed with jalapenos & cheddar cheese (daughter likes a bit of spice!) Used creole seasoning (what I had), added pepper flakes, & served it over riced broccoli. Daughter loved it!
