What You'll Need
Here are the ingredients you will need to make buffalo chicken wings dip:
- Cream Cheese - softened is best in this recipe. You mix all ingredients together before baking, and it is easiest when it is very soft.
- Buffalo Sauce - make our homemade recipe or choose any brand or spice level that you like. When cooking for a crowd, it is safest to do mild.
- Blue Cheese Dressing - use our recipe or a favorite store-bought brand!
- Blue Cheese Crumbles - use as much or as little as you like. Use extra to garnish the top of the dip if preferred.
- Celery Salt
- Frozen Grilled Chicken Breast Strips - any brand you prefer. Substitute with canned chunk chicken, rotisserie chicken, or bake boneless skinless chicken breasts, then shred.
- Celery - chop your celery finely, so there aren't any large chunks, and each bite is proportionate.

- Substitute ranch dressing instead of blue cheese dressing if you don't like blue cheese. Omit the blue cheese crumbles and add feta crumbles or goat cheese crumbles!
- Want to add more spice? Finely chop a fresh jalapeno pepper and add to your buffalo chicken dip mixture before baking!
- Substitute the dressing with a buffalo or ranch seasoning packet to cut calories.
- Use any chicken you prefer in this recipe! I have used canned chicken, rotisserie chicken, or leftover grilled chicken. Feel free to omit the chicken if serving any vegetarian friends or family.
Top Tips
- Remember to soften your cream cheese ahead of time to make mixing all your ingredients together before baking. You can microwave your cream cheese on high for 30 seconds to soften it if in a pinch.
- Keep your dip warm by using a crockpot! So convenient when taking a hot dip to a party.
FAQs
How To Store
Allow your dip to cool uncovered and store in an air-tight container for up to 4 days in the refrigerator.
How To Reheat
In a crockpot or in the microwave, reheat the dip stirring multiple times to make sure it doesn’t break! If this occurs, add a little cream or milk to help your dip return to life. Reheat to the preferred temperature.
Follow our recipe below for a tasty option! Most buffalo chicken dips include shredded chicken, cream cheese, buffalo sauce, and ranch dressing as their key ingredients. Some may add extra shredded cheese, crumbled blue cheese, and or chopped green onions to their recipes!
Adding extra cheese, whether it's more cream cheese, extra crumbled or shredded, any of these options will help thicken your dip. Another simple way is to add cornstarch slurry or roux to the hot dip to help thicken it as well.
Not particularly, but certain ingredients, if used in abundance, can add to the looseness of a dip. Too much buffalo sauce or ranch can lead to a looser dip or low-fat cream cheese as well. I would suggest adding the ranch and buffalo sauce as you go to help create your preferred thickness!
