Delicious savory-sweet sloppy joes baked in sweet Hawaiian rolls with lots of melty cheese. Oh yeah! A party favorite and the perfect game-day snack or dinner!
1tablespoonprepared stone-ground or yellow mustard
1teaspoonchili powder
1teaspoonsmoked paprika
1teaspoonsoy sauce
½teaspoonkosher salt
½teaspoonground black pepper
12ouncepackage Hawaiian rolls
8ouncescheddar cheese(grated)
(optional garnish) sliced dill pickles or bread and butter pickles, sesame seeds.
Instructions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In a 4-quart stockpot, brown your ground beef on medium heat until fully cooked. Drain fat and return to the pan.
Over medium heat, add olive oil, peppers, and onions to the beef and saute until the vegetables are soft.
Add the next 11 ingredients and stir. Cover and bring to a simmer.
Simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and adjust seasoning to taste.
Slice the Hawaiian rolls horizontally to make two halves, setting the bottom half on a foil-lined greased cookie sheet.
Spread your sloppy joe mixture evenly on the bottom half and cover with shredded cheese. Replace the top half.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Cut into 12 portions and serve.
