Tender chicken, onions, and paprika. Nothing could be more Hungarian! This dish is traditionally served with nokedli and instructions are provided. See serving suggestions for more ideas and some low carb and keto options too!
8bone-in skin on chicken legs or thighs(or a combination)

5teaspoonsof paprika

1tablespoonflour(low carb followers use, ½ teaspoon xantham gum)

Instructions
In a large bowl toss chicken with salt, pepper, and paprika.
Add oil to skillet and heat on medium-high until hot. Sear the chicken pieces until golden brown. Remove, cover, and set aside.
Reduce heat to medium and add onions to the pan and saute until they are translucent.
Add chicken back to the pan and pour water over the top, just until it covers halfway up the chicken.
Cover the pan and simmer 45 min to 1 hour, or until the chicken is done, reducing heat if necessary. Turning chicken over after 30 minutes.
In a small bowl, mix the sour cream with flour or xanthan gum. In a small bowl, mix the sour cream with flour or xanthan gum. Whisk together, then add back to the pan and whisk the sauce until it is incorporated. Continue simmering until thick. Adjust seasoning if needed.

SERVING SUGGESTION: Serve with nokedli (recipe below), spaetzle, egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or if following a low carb keto diet then riced or mashed cauliflower. A simple steamed vegetables makes the perfect side dish for this recipe.

How to make traditional nokedli: 9 tbsp flour 3 eggs 1/4 cup water 1 tsp salt Mix the ingredients until you get a hard dough. 'Tear' the nokedli/dough into boiling water. Water will stop boiling at that point, allow to cook until the water starts to boil again and then using a slotted spoon remove nokedli. Repeat process.
