12ouncesstrawberries(trimmed, hulled, and quartered)
½cupketchup
½cupbalsamic vinegar
¼cup granulated sugar (or sugar substitute)
1tablespoonlemon juice
2tablespoonsmaple syrup
1tablespoonworcestershire sauce
⅕ to ¼teaspooncayenne pepper(or more if you like it extra spicy)
1tablespoongarlic(minced)
salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
In a medium sized saucepan heat olive oil over medium low heat. Add onion and saute until tender, 7 to 10 minutes. Add garlic and saute for 2 minutes.
Add garlic and saute for 1 minute then add strawberries and saute for 5 minutes.
Add ketchup, balsamic vinegar, sugar, lemon juice, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce, and cayenne pepper.
Bring to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer. Continue simmering, stirring frequently until the sauce is slightly thickened about 10 to 14 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

VARIATIONS: Substitute other berries for the blueberries, sweetener may need to be adjusted slightly. Make it spicier by adding more jalapeno or hot sauce. Brown sugar may be used instead of granulated sugar.
