Add a smoked ham hock to the bottom of crock pot.
Add remaining ingredients to the pot. Optional: add baby potatoes.
Slow cook the green beans until the ham hock is tender.
Remove the ham hock, pull the meat off and shred. Return it to the crock pot.
Season to taste. Top with sliced almonds.
